Bangladeshi national Rubel Choudhary, who is also the son-in-law of Nepali Congress leader Sujata Koirala, is beyond police’s reach, it seems.

After failing to trace Choudhary in Chitwan, Chitwan police had sought Kathmandu police’s help to find Choudhary and produce him at Chitwan District Administration Office on March 22 to defend charges that former Crown Prince Paras Shah fired in course of an argument with him at a Chitwan resort on December 11, 2010.

However, the Kathmandu police is also unaware about the whereabouts of Choudhary. Some reports say that Choudhary, who has been staying in Nepal in family visa but did many ‘illegal business’ in the influence of his mother-in-law and then Foreign Minister Koirala, had run away to his home country after Koirala loose the power. Police has been investigating his involvement in various cases of illegal VOIP .

SP Pushkar Karki, the Kathmandu police chief, said, “I have instructed subordinate units to find Choudhary and produce him before the Chitwan DAO.”

Police do not know whether Choudhary has already flown to Bangladesh.

DSP Deepak Thapa, in-charge of the Metropolitan Police Circle Maharajgunj, which also looks after the area (Mandikhatar) where Choudhary used to live, said police are searching for Choudhary in Kathmandu.

After Choudhary failed to produce himself before Chitwan DAO, the hearing that was supposed to end has been deferred by a week for this Tuesday.
