Royalty Fees

Royalty Fee Above 8000m Peak

Climbing permit to scale the Nepal Himalayas is issued in all seasons by the Mountaineering Section of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. Certain official documents are required to seek permission for climbing peaks. Around 121 peaks do not require liaison officer for expedition. Fees or royalties depend upon the altitude of the peak starting at US $ 1,000 for peaks below 6,501 meters and rising by US $ 500 for every 500 meters. The government on January 2008 has reviewed the royalty in the seasonal basis. The government reduced mountaineering royalty by 50 per cent for the expedition during winter season and 75 per cent during the summer. But the royalties has been kept as it is for the season from April to June. The royalty for Mt Ama Dablam will be fully charged for any season.

For the Mount Everest (Sagarmatha )

(1) The royalty for the mountaineering expedition team not exceeding seven in number from the route other than the general route (Southeast route) shall be fifty thousand U.S. dollar.

(2) The royalty for the mountaineering expedition from general route (Southeast route) for the mountaineering expedition team shall be as follows,-

(1) Other not move than five members may be added in the mountaineering expedition team beyond the number as it is mentioned in clause (1) and (2).

A) Royalty for the other Mountain,-

(1) The royalty for the other mountain shall be as follows,-

(2)Other not more than five members may be added in the mountaineering expedition team beside as prescribed in clause (1).

Note: If there is any change in the royalty amount before receiving the briefing from the Ministry even after one has already paid the royalty under this Regulation, the mountaineering expedition team shall pay the changed amount of the royalty.

The New Permit fee for the climbing Peak.

The cost for the Trekking Peak permit is USD 350/- per person upto 4 pax.
In every 1 pax increase in a group 5- 8 pax will be additional USD 40/- per person.
In every 1 pax increase above 9-12 pax in a group will be additional USD 25/- per person
If the group exceeds 12 pax, then the new permit is needed.

Group size 5 to 8 US$ 350 + US$ 40 per extra person
For 1 to 5 US$ 350 + 40 = 390
For 1 to 6 US$ 390 + 40 = 430
For 1 to 7 US$ 430 + 40 = 470
For 1 to 8 US$ 470 + 40 = 510

Group size 9 to 12 US$ 510 + US$ 25 per extra person
For 1 to 9 US$ 510 + 25 =535
For 1 to 10 US$ 535 + 25 = 560
For 1 to 11 US$ 5560 + 25 = 585
For 1 to 12 US$ 535 + 25 = 610

For the Group of 1 to 7 Person is US $ 500 /- and for each additional member US$ 100/- extra upto the group of maximum 12 pax.
