Nemwang is unanimous for CA chair

Former Speaker and CPN (UML) leader Subas Nemwang, 55, has been unanimously elected the chairman of the Constituent Assembly (CA).

CPN-UML candidate Nemwang was elected on Wednesday as none of the parties filed the candidacy for the post of the CA chair.

The CA Secretariat had earlier scheduled the election of CA chair for Thursday.

As agreed earlier, Nepali Congress and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) have decided to vote for Nemwang. They had reached a pact whereby NC candidate was supported for president, and MJF candidate for vice president. Eleven other parties including CPN (Marxist Leninist) and Janamorcha Nepal had also pledged their support to the UML candidate.

The formal process of his election will take place Today at the CA.
