Team to inspect 'Das Gaja' border area, pillars
Officials at the Nepal-India border regions have agreed to form a joint team to excavate the border pillars lost at the 'Das Gaja' border area situated between the countries.
A joint meeting held between the Nepali officials from Sunsari and Morang districts and Indian officials from bordering areas have taken the decision in that effect.
The team is expected to renovate the decades old pillars in their original place.
Madhav Prasad Regmi, chief district officer of Morang district informed that the officials of two countries have agreed to form a joint team to maintain the border pillars at 'Das Gaja' border area.
The officials have reached the agreement to initiate border prevention tasks at the time when many border pillars have gone lost and encroachment in the border were rampant.
In the same way, the border officials have also reached agreement to initiate actions to check cross-border criminal activities. For the purpose, the officials agreed to increase number of police check posts along the border, intensify security patrolling and to create a mechanism that help in early relay of messages between them.
