Maoist stick to Raja Ram as UML failed to seek Nepal's alternative for prez

CPN Maoist is mulling over to propose republic leader Ram Raja Prasad Singh once again as the first president of republic Nepal after hectic discussion with Communist Party of Nepal United Marxist and Leninist (CPN-UML) turned fruitless.

During the informal meeting of central committee members held in Kathmandu, Thursday, most of the leaders reached to the conclusion to turn back on their earlier stance to name Singh for the president. ram-raja-p-singh.jpg

Likewise, it is learnt that the party has proposed female assembly member Shanta Shrestha as candidate for the vice president.

However, some of the members were posed the opinion that party should accept whoever proposed by the UML for the controversial post.

According Maoist assembly member Janardhan Sharma, the party is still in desire of seeing Singh as president.

Maoist later discussed with the fringe leftists, representing in the CA after the party meeting conclusion and made public their idea.

According to Peoples' Front chairman Amik Sherchan, Maoist was still stuck in their earlier stance of proposing Raja Ram Singh as president.

Attempt to seek consensus among other parties was not ended amidst party's stance for opting Singh, leader Posta Bahadur Bogati said.

Meanwhile, CPN (UML) has named Ramprit Paswan as the presidential candidate. Likewise, the UML has nominated its central leader Astha Laxmi Shakya as the candidate of vice-president.

And the Nepali Congress has named its general secretary Dr Ram Baran Yadav and central member Min Bahadur Bishwokarma as the candidates for president and vice-president respectively.
