3362 disappeared since insurgence erupts: Report

A report made public recently has said that more than 3362 citizens have been gone missing since the eruption of Maoist insurgency in the country in 1996.logo-of-human-rights-nepal.gif

According to the latest report prepared by National Human Rights Commission, among them 2280 were disappeared by the state during the period while CPN (Maoist) is responsible for the disappearance of 1200 citizens. And the whereabouts of other 80 people were also unknown who were disappeared by other groups.

Publicizing the report, Deputy Director of the Commission Yagya Prasad Adhikari said that the NHRC in initiative of other human rights organizations has made public whereabouts of more than 2333 peoples so far.

However, the condition of 1,029 people was yet to be made public.

Adhikari said condition of 726 people disappeared by the state, 266 by the Maoists and 37 by other groups was yet to be known.
