Peak named after Elizabeth Hawley
A peak that lies at the Dhaulagiri range has been referred to name after Ms Elizabeth Hawley.
Famous French ice climber François Damilano who has made a successful ascend of the virgin peak has intended to name it after Hawley to honour her tireless efforts to manage information on the mountains and alpine shipments in Nepal.
Damilano has completed the first ascend of the Peak Hawley (6,182 meters) solely in a day. He had scaled the peak from its North West direction on May.
"This is a splendid mountain with magnificent beauty," Damilano said.
The mountain climber, who had met Ms Hawley some days after he scaled the peak in order to give her the report of his scaling, has decided to dedicate the name of the mountain that still had not been christened to her.
