Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) that at times use the two big heads Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML for its benefits and left them once its interest were meet, has encountered a great failure of its policy in presidential election.
Sources say, Maoists themselves were not alone to blame for the policy failure, rather a strong interference of the 'South Block' in Nepal's internal matters is the root cause in its breakdown. The fact was also proved by the statement of UML general secretary Jhalanath Khanal at his talking with the BBC Nepali Service two days back.
According to Khanal, the Maoist had turned its back to UML and adopted a new path after the meeting of its party chairman Prachanda with Alok Joshi, Nepal Chief of Indian intelligence 'RAW'.
The Maoist, trapped in RAW's grip could do nothing other than viewing its presidential candidate Ramraja Prashad's fall, reported Dristi Weekly referring a case.
The UML team who had gone to Prachanda's residence to garner consensus for the top post with the former, started doubting Maoist's double tongue, when they saw RAW Nepal chief Joshi leaving the place. And the UML party when witnessed their doubt turning reality after Maoist decided to go with Ramraja and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum, started lobbying for another fresh alliance with second largest Nepali Congress (NC). At the last minute when the Forum adopting the Maoist's path bend towards the NC-UML alliance, reported the vernacular weekly, the Maoist was left alone in the race.
Notwithstanding the fact that Dr Ram Baran Yadhav's victory in the presidency had isolated the Maoist from other parties, none of the big parties have dreamed the government without them. The Maoist party with its own wrong decision had lost the presidency, but all other parties must form a government with Maoists init and must practice the habit of consensus, the tabloid concluded.
