Dr Ram Baran Yadav has become the first president of federal democratic republic Nepal. However, the official declaration in this effect is yet to be made.

According to the unofficial reports from sources at the Constituent Assembly venue, the Nepali Congress candidate Dr Yadav has been able to gain 308 votes while his opponent Ram Raja Prasad Singh, a Maoist candidate got only 282 votes.
According to the Interim Constitution 2006, the presidential candidate should garner at least half and a vote more of the total CA members to win. The CA has altogether 594 members right now out of total 601.
The official results of the president poll run-off held this morning is scheduled to be announced at the CA meeting due to be held at 4 today.
The chances of Dr Yadav's victory in presidential poll had almost confirmed after the fringe parties and independent candidates decided to support him apart from the newly formed alliance member parties CPN-UML, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum and Nepali Congress itself.
Dr Yadav is also the general secretary of NC while Maoist candidate Singh is seen as veteran republican leader.
