The Office of Election Officer (OEO) today has published the names of 593 candidates for coming elections for the posts of President and Vice-President.
The political parties decided to choose the country’s first president and vice president through the election at CA, which is scheduled to be held on Saturday (July 19), after major political failed to break the deadlock over the issue.
The OEC published the names of 593 nominations saying that the by-election is still due to take place in five constituencies and three Constituent Assembly (CA) members are still to be sworn-in.
The election office is scheduled to publish the final list of the candidates tomorrow.
The office is scheduled to publish the final list of the presidential and vice presidential nominations at 1:30 pm tomorrow.
The nomination list would be republished after verifications of the protest claims against the candidates at 3:00pm and the candidates can withdraw their candidacy within in 4: 00 pm and the final list of the candidates would be published at 5 pm.
The office has announced that the election scheduled from 11 am till 2 pm on Saturday and that the CA meeting to be held later would announce the names of first president and the vice president at 5pm.
Tuesday’s Constituent Assembly (CA) meeting Tuesday passed the guidelines for electing the president and vice-president which is scheduled to take place on Saturday (July 19).
As the major political parties locked horns over the presidential candidate and power-sharing in the soon-to-be formed government, the parties finally decided to put the issues to a vote at the 601 member CA.
