Cadres of the Maoist affiliated Young Communist League (YCL) shot dead a youth in Baitadi district over a minor dispute on land.
Dev Singh Bista (22), a resident of Goragaun of Bijaypur-7, who was shot by YCL cadres Sunday night, succumbed to injuries Monday morning in Baitadi district hospital, police said.
Locals said Bista was summoned by YCL cadres for talks on a land dispute with his neighbours, who had filed a complaint against him.
However, YCL cadre Karna Dhami shot at him in the course of the discussion at around 6:30 pm, reports say quoting locals.
Relatives of the deceased said local YCL cadres-- Karna Dhami and Ramesh Mahara-- shot him in abdomen over a land related dispute among locals.
Dhami and Mahara have been absconding after the incident, police said.
Maoists’ regional bureau member Gopal Chand admitted to YCL cadres’ involvement in the killing.
He said local cadres were directed to collect information about the incident and that the party would help the police in taking action against the guilty.
