‘Janayuddha’, a film based on 12 years long people war received five different awards at the National Film Award Distribution Ceremony 2065 BS Monday organised by Film Development Board.
A total of 28 films out of 32 made in the year 2064 BS. competed for 19 different categories.
'Janayuddha' won the awards in best film category. Similarly, Aakash Adhikari won the best actor, Tara KC won the best actress in supporting role, Suresh Adhikari won the best lyricist and Banish Shah won the best editor from the same film.
'Janayuddha', was adjudged the best among two other films — ‘Kismat’ and Dai Ko Sasurali' nominated in the category of best film category.
The three-member jury headed by Dr. Pradeep Bhattarai and the members’ duo Prof. Ram Prasad Gyawali and Tshering Ritar Sherpa awarded 'Kismat' with four different awards including best director to Ujjwal Adhikari, best actress to Rekha Thapa, best re-recordist Mukesh Shah and the best make-up man Saroj Pandey. The film was made in the banner of Rekha Films Private Limited. It’s the home banner of Rekha and Chhabhi Ojha.
After receiving the award, Rekha declared her love for her husband Chhabi from the stage saying, ‘I Love You Chhabi’ who according to her was the source of her inspiration and said that he never used to be satisfied with her acting.
She also did not forget to thank the audience and the ksimat team for the award. She further added that the audiences were the real winners of the award.
Similarly, another film 'Lal Salaam’ based on the peoples’ war bagged two awards including art director award to Pasang T Sherpa and best action director went to Kumar and Kumar.
‘Daar’ also bagged two awards in the dance and cinematography category. Dance director Basant Shrestha and Raju Bikram Thapa were awarded for these categories respectively.
'Dai Ko Sasurali' also won two awards, award for best background music was given to Manohar Sunam and best script writer to Bikash Acharya.
'Parkhi Base', 'Ghatak', 'Maryada' and 'Sajanwa Anadi' also won one award each.
Dilip Thakuri was awarded best custom designer for 'Sajanwa Anadi'. Suresh Adhikari received the best musician award for 'Parkhi Banse'.
Superstar Rajesh Hamal, who was not present at the function was awarded the best actor in supporting role for 'Maryada' while Ramit Dhungana got the best actor in negative role for film 'Ghatak'.
CPN (Maoist) chairman Prachanda, the chief guest of the programme and other guests Mala Sinha and CP Lohani (the leading actors of the film 'Maitighar') jointly handed over the best director and best film awards.
Speaking at the programme chairman Prachanda said that he was happy to attend a different type of programme different from the usual political programme. He also said that he had also worked as a choreographer during his young days.
Prachanda who presented the prize jointly with the actors Mala Sinha and CP Lohani said that he became their fan after he watched their film 'Maitighar' and that he was very happy to be together with them in the stage. He also said that new revolution was necessary in the field of art.
