Nepal's first low-cost carrier FlyYeti.com on Sunday announced suspension of its operation in Nepal beginning mid-July citing current political uncertainty and difficult operating conditions.
According to the press statement issued by it, the decision was taken by the management of FlyYeti.com in the light of the current political environment in the country.
The adverse situation has impacted on the airline's ability to renew its current aircraft leasing agreement, which are subject to government approval and expires in mid-July 2008, states the press release.
"The current uncertainty ---combined with difficult operating conditions in Nepal and a presently opaque regulatory environment - has led the management of FlyYeti.com to decide that it is in the best interest of the company and its passengers to temporarily suspend operation," reads the statement.
The statement added that all passengers who have made bookings with the airline will receive full and complete refund for any payments made.
Launched on January 20, 2008, FlyYeti.com enjoyed pleasant performance and an extremely favorable seat-loader factor of 80 percent since the introduction of the service.
"The company will continue to closely monitor the political and market conditions in the country, and hopes to resume operation when those conditions stabilize," the statement further said.
