Sample collections of water from rivers, lakes and other sources. Investigations on rubbish, on the state of forests and climate change. To understand the state of health of the ecosystem in the Park of the Everest and make appropriate management plans. This is the objective of the recent joint mission of Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University, as part of a mission by the Committee EvK2Cnr for the project of Partnership DSS-HKKH.
The mission, carried out in the last month, provides for the collection of different types of data on the ecosystem of the park of Everest (Sagarmatha National Park). The objective is to update and complete the database underlying the management model of the protected area.
The new data on the water, forest and environmental resources of the Park will allow to produce simulations on future scenarios and to regulate him in sight of their realization.
The most important themes are surely the state of the drinking water in the Khumbu valley, the management of the energy and the disposal of the refusals, both in the park and in the buffer zones.
In the last days, some researchers have collected data on forests and climate change in the valleys of Dudh Khoshi, Imja and Gokyo. And they have also visited the Pyramid Laboratory, managed by the Committee EvK2Cnr, the main research centre in the region of Everest. courtesy article: evk2cnr, Italy.
