In two different international tournaments of cricket and soccer, Nepali team thrashed Norway and Cambodia in the qualifying match in the respective tourney.
Nepal thrashed Norway by 106 runs in another Division V World Cup Qualifying round match played in Jersey on Tuesday. Earlier on Monday, Nepal had hammered Mozambique by 219 runs in which Alam had scalped 10 wickets alone.
Batting first, Nepalese team started badly with slug runs in board. Nepal had lost 5 wickets for just 73 runs and was reeling at 128-7.
But, in-form all rounder Mehboob Alam fired Norway bowlers scoring 51 runs including four boundaries. Later, skipper Binod Das contributed 34 runs to push the team score to 204.
In reply, Norway couldn't stand in front of Nepalese bowlers. Man of the Match Mehboob Alam scalped 2 wickets and Dhirendra Chand, Paras Khadka and Basanta Regmi shared 2 wickets each.
Nepal will play against USA and Vanuatu in other matches.
A 108-run victory also virtually guaranteed Nepalese team a place in Friday's semi-finals.
Nepal team beats host Cambodia
In another match of football, a solitary goal by Jumanu Rai helped Nepal beat hosts Cambodia 1-0 and qualify for the AFC Challenge Cup at the Phnom Pheh National Olympic Stadium on Monday.
Jumanu, who scored a brace in Nepal's thrilling 3-2 victory over Macau in the first game, was again on target a minute before the break. The diminutive striker latched on to a Sandeep Rai pass and skirted a Cambodian defender before finding the net.
With the victory, Nepal completed the line-up for the second edition of the main competition which takes place in Hyderabad, India, from July 30 to August 10. Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and defending champions Tajikistan have already confirmed their berths in the eight-team finals while hosts India, DPR Korea, Myanmar and Turkmenistan have direct entry.
Meanwhile, Nepali team is set to return to Thailand for their preparation for the SAFF Championship to be held in Maldives from June 3. After four-day stay in Thailand, Nepal will leave for Maldives on May 31.
