The Election Commission (EC) has asked candidates who have won two seats in the Constituent Assembly election under fast-past-the –post (FPTP) electoral system to vacate one of their choice by June 8.
As per the existing legal provision, any candidate elected from two constituencies is required to resign from one constituency within 30 days from the date of publication of final results.
Maoist chairman Prachanda, Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum coordinator Upendra Yadav, its leader Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar and Maoist leader Dev Gurung had won from two seats each in the CA election held on April 10.
