A senior Maoist leader on Wednesday warned the king to label as a criminal and will be treated in category to other crooks if he tried to withstood against the mandate of the people and refused to immediately quit the Narayanhiti royal palace.
"Nepali people have elected Maoists to overthrow the king. If he declines to leave the palace on his own volition, he would be treated and punished like any other criminal," Ram Bahadur Thapa 'Badal', a senior Maoist and CA member said while talking to mediapersons in Itahari yesterday.
On a query whether there would be any bloodshed if the king refused to quit the palace, Badal said, "Nobody wants to see bloodshed but if the king did not quit the palace and took any awkward step, I cannot reckon what happens then."
Badal blamed some regressive forces of using the king and hatching conspiracy against the Maoists. He, however, did not name any of such forces.
Without taking anyone's name, he said some senior political leaders were also joining their voices with the regressive forces in favour of the monarchy. He also urged such leaders to think before speaking.
Earlier, his seniors Maoist chairman Prachanda and general secretary Dr Baburam Bhattarai had made
allotting the king a May 27 deadline to quit the palace. The leaders duo on Tuesday also have warned of eviction in case of king Gyanendra's refusal. Contradictory,
said king Gyanendra has said he is unwilling to quit the palace now.
