Dr Susanna Phoboo, a student of ecophysiology at the Department of Botany, Tribhuvan University, has been awarded with L' OREAL - UNESCO Fellowship Award for Women in Science amidst a function held in Paris on Wednesday.
Dr Phoboo is the youngest female scientist and first Nepali to be awarded with the fellowship, said a statement issued by UNESCO here Thursday. She is among 15 women from around the world to get the honor.
The fellowship permits doctoral and post-doctoral women to pursue research in host laboratories outside of the home country. They receive a maximum of US $ 40,000 over a period of two years, the statement said.
Besides Nepal, Mongolia, Gabon and Slovenia are new countries to get the honor.
