Dr. KC elected NRN Canada president
The fifth convention of the Non Resident Nepalis (NRN)Canadachapter concluded inEdmonton,Albertastate inCanada, by issuing the Edmonton Declaration.
The general convention elected Dr. Binod K.C. the president of the NRN Canada chapter.
On the occasion, three senior members of the Nepali diaspora inCanada, were honoured with the Outstanding Nepalese Diaspora Members inCanada. They are Dr. Kunja Ramani Sharma, Laxman Tripathi and Dr. Jaynarayan Bahadur Shrestha, who have been providing voluntary service to the non-resident Nepalis inCanadasince long.
Nepalese Canadian Society of Edmonton, the Calgary Nepalese Community Association and Nepalese Community Society of Calgary were the conference co-organizers. There are nearly 15,000 Nepalis and 5,000 Bhutanese of Nepali origin residing inAlbertaprovince in westCanada.
President of the Nepalese Canadian Society of Edmonton, Mohanath Acharya, said his organization would play an important role in promoting and expanding the collaboration with theAthawaskaUniversityin the campaign of opening Open University inNepal.
