International climate change conference kicks off in Kathmandu
President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav inaugurated the two-day conference by watering the sapling of the camphor tree. Addressing the conference, President Yadav underlined the need of integrated efforts at the national, regional and international levels for minimizing the effects of climate change.
Stating that the mountainous countries are more at risk of climate change, President Yadav noted that there was no alternative to saving the world together.
Minister for Environment, Hem Raj Tated, said not only the mountain countries other parts of the globe are increasingly being hit by the adverse impact of climate change, pointing out that the International Conference of Mountain Countries on Climate Change has been organised by the Nepal Government to look for ways of mitigating this.
