Speaking at the interaction on the conservation of Parvati Kunda, a wetland in Rasuwa district in capital on the occasion of the World Wetland Day, they called for conserving high-altitude wetlands for the preservation of mountain ecosystem and bio-diversity.
Highlighting the religious, economic and cultural diversity of the Parvati Kunda, Local Development Officer of Rasuwa district, Ram Mani Bhattarai said that the District Development Committee (DDC) is working to develop a periodic plan for the tourism development of the district.
The plan will focus on the conservation and promotion of Parvati Kunda as an important tourist spot, he said.
As the Rasuwa DDC does not have its income sources, it has not been able to take the initiate to conserve and promote the pond. “This is directly linked with the livelihoods of the locals,” he said.
Located at a height of 2,500 metres above sea level, Parvati Kunda is in Gatlang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Rasuwa district.
