Ministry of Science & Technology set to launch various programmes
In a bid to promote science and technology and thereby improving the living standard of the people, the Ministry of Science and Technology is set to launch various programmes.
Minister for Science and Technology Kalpana Dhamala unveiled this at a press meet in the Ministry.
“Now onwards, the Ministry will give top priority to the promotion of science and technology as per the demand of the time,” she said, adding that working procedure to this end has been already prepared and is getting approved.
Following the dissolution of the high-level information technology commission, the National Information Council was formed under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, according to Minister Dhamala.
Similarly, a nine-member Ministry Reconstruction Suggestions Taskforce has been formed with Prof. Dr. Dayananda Bajracharya as the coordinator so as to determine the work area and future plan of the Ministry.
Likewise, the Council of Ministers has agreed in principle for the establishment of information and technology division and information technology department at the Ministry.
Similarly, the Ministry has focused on the e-system for the works execution and the process has been initiated to make appointments in the vacant posts at Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and its service commission. The appointments would be made also for the establishment of Himalayan Seed Bank.
It is learnt that homework was underway for the operation of Banepa-based IT Park, and for the establishment of Bio Technological Center, Atom Technology Center and Space Technology Center.
Besides these, the Ministry is planning to take ahead the concept of scientific diplomacy with the support of China and India.
