In their messages and articles contributed to a research study entitled ‘The 2300-years-old Historic Charumati Stupa: An Analytical Study’, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, President of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapakse, scholar on culture Satya Mohan Joshi, Vice Chancellor of the Lumbini Buddhist University Dr. Triratna Manandhar and the ambassadors of India, Japan, Sri Lanka and Thailand have drawn the attention of UNESCO and related bodies for including the Chabahil Stupa in the list of world heritage sites.

The study was commissioned by the Charumati Buddhist Mission Nepal and it was conducted by Junu Basukala Ranjeetkar, a post-graduate student of Buddhist Studies.

The Charumati Stupa is believed to have been constructed 2,300 years back in commemoration of Charumati, the daughter of Emperor Ashoka of Magadh who visited Lumbini and Kathmandu. It is believed that Emperor Ashoka married off his daughter with a Kshetriya Prince of Nepal Devpal during the 14th century.

The book throws light on many unknown aspects of the Charumati Stupa and its historicity.

It would be a resourceful reference material to people who want to study the history and architecture of the Stupa.

The Stupa was renovated seven years back at the initiation of Chairman of the Charumati Mission, Bhikkhi Tapassi Dhamma.
