A 108-member main organiser committee formed under the patronage of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai to make the Lumbini Visit Year-2012 a success, has nominated singer Ani Chhoing Dolma and Hollywood/Hong Kong movie star Jackie Chan as goodwill ambassadors of the campaign.

Minister for Culture Gopal Kiranti informed in a press conference in Kathmandu on Monday that Indian artists Shah Rukh Khan and Rekha have been also requested for their consent as the goodwill ambassadors for the campaign.

According to minister Kiranti, the minstry has signed an official agreement with Jackie Chan in that regard while agreements with Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Rekha will be completed shortly as the duo were obroad for personal reasons.

A 13-member national secretariat committee has been formed to assist the main committee, according to the minister. Vice chairman of Lumbini Development Trust Sangbo Sherpa, lawmaker Lakki Sherpa, government secretary Dinesh Hari Adhikari and industrialist Suraj Vaidya are the sub-coordinators in the secretariat committee.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers on October 17 had decided to mark the year of 2012 as the Lumbini Visit Year.

The campaign aims to bring in around one million national and international tourists to Lumbini, the birthplace of the Lord Gautam Buddha during the Lumbini Visit Year.
