Human Right violation up: Report

As many as 602 cases of human rights violations were recorded in Mid-Western Development Region in 2010, according to INSEC.

Making public its report on Thursday, INSEC said 52 cases of human rights violation were committed by the state side, 103 by the Unified CPN-Maoist and 447 from other parties and groups in 12 months.

During that period, 126 people were affected from the state side, 155 from Maoist and 704 people from other parties and groups. The reports say 54 citizens were killed in this region from different sides.

INSEC recorded 528 cases of human rights violation of which 639 people became victims in 2009, said INSEC chairman Subodhraj Pyakurel, claiming that political crimes have been increasing in Nepal.
Criminal activities have been growing rapidly due to politics of discrimination and impunity, said Pyakurel. He said political crimes are increasing as the criminals are being released under political influence.
