Call for collective efforts to develop trekking sector
Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has asked the trekking agents to make joint effort for the development of the trekking sector.
While speaking during the 32nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) on Tuesday, he said, “The trekking agencies must work together for the development and required support for the trekking agencies.”
PM Nepal also opined that the trekking sector can generate employment opportunities apart from attracting more tourists through adventure activities like paragliding, canoying, skydiving etc.
Prachanda Man Shrestha, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), stressed on advancement and improvements of trekking sector and also developing trekking to the Terai region along with the high altitude trekking.
Similarly, Yogendra Shakya, Nepal Tourism Year (NTY) 2011 coordinator said that five areas are being focused for the NTY 2011.
According to him, the NTY committee is now more focused on sanitation programme, airport infrastructure development, border town planning and bringing more airlines for NTY 2011.
